PROBUS Outdoors Club – cancelled

Today’s hike (Dec. 16th) is canceled due to the strong wind warnings that have been issued for our area. There will be a hike planned for next Thursday (Dec. 23rd). We plan to hike Cranberry trails then. I will send out an email about the Dec 23rd hike in a few days.
We will be exploring the trails at Cranberry Trail, Callander on Thursday Dec. 16th. Currently the weather forecast is calling for rain. We have hiked in the rain but not with snow and ice on the ground. Just a heads up this outing may be canceled if the trails are icy. If I do have to cancel it will be early Thursday a.m. Hiking poles, sturdy shoes, and as always lawn chairs, thermos, snacks for after the hike are suggested. All hikes start at 10:00 a.m.

There will be a hike on Dec. 23rd., same location. With no snow in the forecast, it seems safer to hike on flat trails.
On last Thursday’s hike we saw the concrete footings where the wooden ski jump had been. Enclosed are two pictures from the era of jumpers at Laurentian Ski Hill. Probus member Fred McNutt was one of the skiers who was a jumper. Thanks Lorna for finding these pictures.
