PROBUS Outdoors Club – Northshore Road

This week’s hike will have us on some of the trails west of the access point on Northshore Road. Apparently it is possible to hike on Northshore Road without using that steep hill we’ve climbed a few times before. There will be some hills, but we are avoiding the steep hill at the access road by hiking a bit west of the road and we will not be climbing too high in the bush. According to this week’s guides, Marie-Claude & Guy, there are usually no puddles as the terrain drains well there. Many of these trails have been blown and they are maintained weekly by volunteers. It is advisable to have a hiking pole or urban walking poles though as there is the possibility of some wet spots along the trials.

We might be fine with the weather for the hike, but there is always the possibility of rain during coffee time, so this week we’ll head inside for a change. We can go for lunch. Yes, Lunch at The Portage at 170 Peninsula Rd, North Bay, after the hike this Thursday.

Email Barb Wednesday, November 1st if you plan to attend the hike. We will park and meet at the access point on Northshore Road. As for lunch, we are not making reservations. We’ll just show up.
