Help

This page contains a few tips about using this website.
  1. The pictures on the Welcome page scroll. You can jump to any one of them by clicking on the boxes across the bottom. You can stop the scrolling by simply putting your cursor on the picture.
  2. The pictures for each club initially display as "thumbnails." You can expand any of them by double-clicking on the thumbnail. It'll open a larger version of the picture in a "filmstrip" display. You can scroll back and forth through the filmstrip using the < and > arrows on the side, or start a slideshow by using the "Play" button. Press [Esc] to exit the filmstrip.
  3. I didn't really want to display the calendar below on this page, and I don't expect it to be of any "help." But WordPress insisted on having it somewhere so here it is. You're likely better off using the calendars under the clubs - i.e. #229 or #268. The default for the calendar below is #229.
  4. Here are some notes about the calendars on this website. I've tried to use a standard Event Naming Convention to identify which events are for which club, and which for both.
    • Events being run by one or both of our PROBUS clubs start with “PROBUS”
    • Events that don’t start with “PROBUS” are in the calendar for your convenience
    • Events run by the PROBUS Club of North Bay & District start with “PROBUS 229”
    • Events run by the Blue Sky PROBUS Club start with “PROBUS 268”
    • Events that are run jointly by both clubs simply start with “PROBUS”
    • If an event is in your club’s calendar then you are welcome to attend it

Outdoor Club – paddling – Trout Lake
Aug 26 @ 10:00 am

Our August 26th paddling adventure will start at the Stepping Stones boat launch. We will be paddling west past Camp Island to Portage Park. From there we carry our kayaks across the road to Four Mile Bay (this
may be the easiest portage I have ever done). Then we’ll head east on Four Mile Bay.

We will be stopping to have our brown bagged lunches at Terri and Terry Moore’s new home which is on this route. We will be paddling through The Narrows and either back to Stepping Stones boat launch or stopping at Brenda’s and Cathy’s who are also on this paddling route.

I am so looking forward to this paddle since I really have not been on Trout Lake much at all.

Norm mapped out our route and it’s about 11km. So don’t be discouraged thinking it will be a long gruesome paddle. Last week from the Powassan Hydro pond we paddled approximately 10 km.  The week before, the scenic paddle at Moore Lake, was about 5 km.

On the upside, the weather will be cooler this coming Thursday and we will have a few fun stops along the way. For those who paddled last week in the heat, well done.

PROBUS Golf Tournament (combined North Bay clubs)
Sep 21 all day

Good day golfers,

The two PROBUS clubs here in North Bay have joined together to have a golf tournament at Pinewood Park if we get enough members who want to play.

The cost is (minimum of 20 players) $20.00 plus $15.00 for the power cart for a total of $35.00.  My goodness that is really inexpensive.

Tuesday, September 21 is the date of the tournament unless it is rained out then it will be rebooked for Tuesday, September 28.

Lunch is available for an additional cost depending on what you order from the Pine Cone restaurant.  Mainly hamburgers, hot dogs etc.

Please reply to Patricia Frigon pcfrigon@sympatico.ca or 705-492-4719 before August 31, 2021.

That is the cutoff date.  If we do not have 20 golfers minimum signed up by then the tournament is cancelled.

I, Howard Kizell, President (it seems for life)of the Blue Sky PROBUS Club, am donating a set of slightly used agree i i LGPA golf clubs with a golf bag to the player who has the best game of the tournament or lowest score.

Check your calendars, start warming up, get to the driving range, start practising your putting and R.S.V.P. PAT FRIGON before AUGUST 31, 2021 by 6 P.M.

Speaker:
At this meeting we will be hearing a presentation by North Bay City Councillor, Mark King. He is a member of the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB). Among other things, this Board is responsible for the funding and administration of social housing programs and work to prevent homelessness.  I’m sure it will be very informative as he updates us all in relation to the housing crisis facing many members of our community. As always your questions are invaluable as we struggle to understand these social issues.
