PROBUS Outdoors Club – Lavase River

We are going to try this again. Unfortunately last week’s paddle was canceled due to the poor weather forecast.
Thanks to Lorna for making the tough call to cancel last week. I was in the Lindsay area and I can testify to sweeping rain squalls, thunder, hail and gusting wind. It wasn’t the two day bike trip that I had planned.
Meanwhile, I checked the weather predictions for this Thursday and we may be okay…which I have said before. But what the heck, I have a 50/50 track record of predicting good weather. I could get a job as a weather person…if I wasn’t dedicated to being retired.
So – this week we will be exploring the Lavase River starting from the Champlain Park boat launch at the end of Premier Road. Please have your boats in the water and ready to paddle for 10:00am.
Directions:
Lakeshore Drive to Premier Road,
at the end of Premier Rd turn left towards the playground,
round the corner and drive past the dog park to the boat launch.
There is parking, washrooms, a sandy beach, benches and picnic tables.
Things to bring: lawn chairs, warm dry clothes just in case, lunch, your favourite paddling destination suggestions for the next few weeks/months. (We have a few ideas in line: Stepping Stones to Turtle Lake and the “ice cream” island tour.)
